TBILISI, DFWatch — After meeting with Stefan Fule, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy on Thursday, Bidzina Ivanishvili talked about his planned visit to Europe.
“We had a very interesting conversation,” he said, adding that this has been their second meeting.
“I was very pleased with the first visit in Batumi a few months ago. We had an interesting conversation, received a lot of advise, and an invitation. I was assured that my first visit should be to Europe.”
A few days after the October 1 parliamentary election, the Georgian Dream coalition said Ivanishvili’s first visit abroad would be to the USA.
He said there is a presidential election coming up in the U.S. and he will only visit there after it is finished.
“Before the USA I do not plan to visit other countries,” he said then.
The prime minister candidate met Stefan Fule at his business center. They spoke about the ongoing negotiations between the EU and Georgia. The commissioner congratulated him on his victory and expressed hope of deepened relations between the EU and Georgia.
