TBILISI, DFWatch–There was a fire in Gardabani in the south of Georgia on Sunday. Several abandoned houses burned down, and a woman was slightly injured.

Hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers managed to put out the fire in Kumisi settlement with the aid of helicopters. An area of several tens of acres was burned, including cottages and several houses.

The firefighters believe the fire started in dry grass due to the heat. Interpressnews reported that the governor of Kvemo Kartli and employees of Gardabani municipality visited the affected area, and they announced that that a government commission will estimate the damage.

The woman injured in the fire was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
