TBILISI, DFWatch–The body of a Georgian who died a few days ago in a bomb explosion in Ukraine’s Donetsk region arrived in Georgia on Monday.
Arsen Beridze, 23, from Adjara region, had been living in Ukraine with his family for the past 12 years. He was killed when a bomb thrown by pro-Russian separatists exploded in the garden of his house. He was with his 17-year-old neighbor who also died in the explosion.
Beridze’s family came to Georgia a day before the body and were joined by friends and relatives. All transport costs were covered by the Georgian consulate.
In parallel, Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Zalkaliani said Monday that the Foreign Ministry and the embassy in Ukraine are working to evacuate four Georgians from Donets and other parts of the Donbas.
Since the armed confrontation started, Georgian diplomats have contacted their own citizens who are currently in Ukraine, he explained. Four have so far expressed a desire to be evacuated.
