TBILISI, March 6 – Two Georgian Dream officials highlighted positive outcomes from a visit to the U.S. capital, declaring restoration of good relations with Washington, while relations are on hold with the European Union.
Mariam Lashkhi, chair of a parliamentary committee for education, science and youth, said she noticed a clear shift in rhetoric under Trump, compared to previous U.S. administrations. She underlined that the improvement was not only in rhetoric, but also tangible outcomes in economic and trade, pointing to increased US investments directed toward Georgia’s economic growth.
Lashkhi also highlighted Georgia’s participation in the inaugural summit of the Sovereign Nations Alliance, hosted by Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna. The alliance,
grounded in shared national and traditional values, underscores the importance of sovereignty and self-determination, according to the lawmaker.
Foreign affairs committee chair Nikoloz Samkharadze was similarly satisfied with the delegation’s Washington tour, pointing to meetings with U.S. Congress members that focused on revitalizing Georgian-American relations. According to him, discussions covered a broad spectrum of issues, including security, regional developments, and the Middle Corridor – a network of trade links between China and Europe, bypassing Russia.
