TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia’s foreign trade turnover in the first three months of 2014 was USD 2,523 million. This is 18 percent more than in the same period last year.
Preliminary data published by Georgia’s National Statistics Department, GeoStat, show that export amounted to USD 696 million, or 23 percent more than last year. Import was USD 1,827 million, which is 16 percent more than last year.
The trade deficit in January-March 2014 was USD 1,131 million, which is 45 percent of the foreign trade turnover.
Precise data about foreign trade in the first three months will be published on April 24.
