TBILISI, DFWatch–The Georgian Dream party in September received more than half a million lari in donations (about USD 350 000). In October, the amount of donations was only 1500 lari (about USD 900).

Meanwhile, the party of Nino Burjanadze, the Democratic Movement, received 400 000 lari (about USD 240 000) in the first two weeks of October. Mikheil Saakashvili’s National Movement party received 140 000 lari (about USD 85 000) in donations in October.

Zurab Aznaurashvili, head of the Financial Monitoring Service, on Tuesday said at a press conference that that the least donation was made to the ruling party in the first half of October – about USD 900, out of which 1000 lari (USD 600) was donated by Guram Odisharia, the Minister of Culture and 500 lari (USD 300) by MP Tamaz Avdaliani.

In the first two weeks of October, Burjanadze’s party received the most of all other parties – about USD 240 000. Zurab Aznaurashvili said that the largest amount of donations was made by Burjanadze herself – 60 000 lari (about USD 36 000).

In the last two weeks, Burjanadze’s Democratic Movement received material donations in addition, which consisted of cars and party offices. The value of all this was about USD 10 000. Among the donations was a car owned by her son, Anzor Burjanadze, a Toyota Landcruiser. The party can use this car until the end of the campaign.

Mikheil Saakashvili’s UNM received about USD 85 000 in donations, the majority of which was donated by party members.

October 11, 140 000 lari was transferred to the account of the UNM from 28 persons. Zurab Aznaurashvili said that this is the only donation which the UNM has received during the whole year. Except from this, the party hasn’t received any donations since the election on October 1, 2012.
