TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia’s Minister of Economy Giorgi Kvirikashvili signed a new economic agreement with China on Monday, during a visit to the country.
From the Chinese side, the agreement was signed by Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng.
The agreement is part of the Silk Road economic zone, and includes the option of the two countries entering a bilateral free trade agreement. The prospect of this will be studied by a working group.
Other aspects of the agreement are to develop infrastructure like roads, railway, and to promote Georgia as a tourism destination to a Chinese audience.
Representatives of Chinese Tourist Companies will soon visit Georgia to study Georgia’s tourism potential.
