
TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgian police have arrested four individuals and charged them with drug-related offenses involving the illegal purchase, storage, distribution, and facilitation of narcotics, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The arrests followed an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Officials say the suspects had acquired and stored several types and quantities of drugs, including large amounts allegedly intended for sale. One of the accused had also allegedly distributed packages of dried marijuana across multiple locations in preparation for resale.
The suspects were detained in Tbilisi. Three were given charges of large-scale drug trafficking and prior convictions for similar offenses, which could result in prison sentences of up to 20 years or life. The fourth individual is charged with drug possession and aiding the illegal sale of marijuana, carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years.
A judge has approved pre-trial detention for all four defendants.
