
TBILISI, December 18 – Volunteers from Georgian Christian Baptist Churches paid a friendship visit on Thursday to the Saint Queen Tamar Art School, which operates under the Georgian Patriarchate in Tbilisi.
According to the State Agency for Religious Affairs, which also took part in the event, the visitors delivered humanitarian assistance to the school’s students in the form of 50 gift boxes filled with sweets.
The initiative was described as a charitable action aimed at supporting pupils at the church-run institution.
The school’s director, Archpriest Mirian Samkharadze, thanked the organizers for the assistance, the agency said.
Those taking part in the visit included Tariel Papinashvili, executive secretary of the Union of Georgian Christian Baptist Churches, and Nino Chavchavadze, head of the State Agency’s Strategic Research, Analysis and Regional Service, along with other agency staff.
Georgia is a predominantly Orthodox Christian country, but has a large number of other religious communities. The State Agency for Religious Affairs was oversees relations and dialogue among faith groups.
