TBILISI, March 5 – Azerbaijan has summoned Iran’s ambassador following drone attacks on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, reportedly launched from Iranian territory.

The strikes targeted Nakhchivan’s airport and a school, injuring two civilians. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry expressed strong protest, demanding explanations and immediate preventive measures from Iran.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry condemned the attacks, emphasizing the need to protect national sovereignty and civilian safety. They warned of potential retaliatory actions.

The incident took place amid heightened regional tensions, with neighboring countries like Georgia concerned about its own security during the crisis which began last Saturday with a joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister denied that Teheran was responsible for the drone attack, Reuters reported.
