TBILISI, DFWatch–An anti-hail shell fell on a house in Kakheti Wednesday night, damaging the roof and wall.
Delta, a defense company run by the government, installed the anti-hail system in Kakheti earlier this year to protect the harvest.
Hail has long been a problem in Georgia’s eastern region, destroying grapes, peaches and other produce. The anti-hail system helped save some of the harvest this year, but it failed several times.
No-one was injured in the incident, which happened in the village Kabala. The shell set a small fire and damaged a few items in the house.
An investigation has been launched for damaging property through negligence.
On Thursday, representatives of Delta explained the accident by a technical error and blamed the Macedonian manufacturer of the rocket.
Delta said the company is studying what happened in order to avoid future incidents.
The Ministry of Defense will compensate the damage caused by the rocket.
