TBILISI, DFWatch–An aide to the Georgian president was attacked in Turkey on Monday during an official visit.
The attack took place in Ankara, just as a meeting between Georgian president Giorgi Margvelashvili and Turkish President Abdullah Gül was about to start.
Turkish media report that the attack took place as Sopo Janiashvili, who is a press officer for Margvelashvili, was waiting outside the Turkish presidential palace.
Janiashvili fell down, and then the attacker started to beat her. A guard attempted to stop her.
The woman who attacked Janiashvili had psychological problems, Turkish media wrote.
The attacker was taken to the police station for questioning. Janiashvili decided not to file a complaint.
