TBILISI, DFWatch–There were 9.3 percent more visitors to Georgia in June, 2015, compared to same month last year, according to the latest monthly report from the Interior Ministry.
The new figures show that 496,758 people visited the country in June, out of which 197,537 were tourists, which is 3,4 percent more than last year. 131,710 visited Georgia as a transit country, 80 percent more than last year. And 167,511 people came for other purposes, 12 percent less than in June last year.
In the first half of 2015, the number of visitors was 2,332,303, which is 3.5 percent more than last year.
In June alone, most visitors came from Turkey, but the number fell by 19.8 percent. Azerbaijan is second (+15%), followed by Armenia (+33%), Russia (+47 %) and Ukraine (-5%).
