TBILISI, DFWatch–The Georgian wrestler Tarzan Maisuradze on Tuesday won the European junior wrestling championships in Katowice, Poland.
Maisuradze won in Men’s Junior Freestyle 74 kg, defeating Konstantin Gkontsis from Greece, Murat Erturk from Turkey, Gadjimurad Omarov from Azerbaijan and Oleksiy Shcherbak from Ukraine. The latter took bronze after losing 2-1 to Maisuradze.
Another Georgian, Geno Petriashvili, took gold in Men’s Junior Freestyle 120 kg, on the way defeating Oyan Nazaryani of Azerbaijan, Ilja Litvinov of Germany, Kazbeg Khubulov of Russia and in the final fight Yunus Emre Dede from Turkey.
Giorgi Bergadze, also representing Georgia, won bronze medal in Men’s Junior Freestyle 60 kg, after being defeated by Imam Adhiev of Russia.
One more Georgian wrestler, Muraz Mchedlidze, also took gold in Men’s Junior Freestyle 96 kg, but he was presenting Ukraine. He won against Russia’s Zaynulla Kurbanov.
The FILA European Junior Championship was held in Katowice from June 14 – June 22.
