TBILISI, DFWatch–Former Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili is dissatisfied with the president that he selected as candidate.
Ivanishvili selected Giorgi Margvelashvili as the Georgian Dream coalition’s candidate before the presidential election in October 2013. And the voters agreed – 62% of them voted for the Georgian Dream candidate.
But now the man who recommended Margvelashvili for the position has changed his mind. Ivanishvili told Imedi TV on Tuesday that the new president has shown ‘different features’ after the election.
“I won’t hide that I was expecting better,” he said.
The businessman said he no longer has any contact with the president, and disagrees with him in many things.
“I will soon be 60 and I can’t remember such an example,” he continued. “We don’t have informal relations today and I don’t think this is a tragedy.”
Margvelashvili was elected as president in October 2013. He replaced Mikheil Saakashvili, who served two terms as president.
Margvelashvili was education minister before Ivanishvili named him as candidate for president for the Georgian Dream coalition.
