Tbilisi, DFWatch – The head of Adjara police has been taken to hospital with convulsions and strong anxiety after he was accused of violence and an organization demanded his suspension.

Doctors say police chief Valerian Telia, who was brought to the hospital just before midnight Wednesday, suffered convulsions as a result of stress, and that he can leave the hospital after two days.

Giorgi Valishvili, the head of one of the departments at the clinic Medina, told News.ge that doctors are treating Telia with diazepam, but that it won’t affect the results of a drug test which Georgian Young Lawyers Association (GYLA) has demanded.

GYLA and Telia were involved in a quarrel about a traffic incident in Batumi on March 28.

The group accuses Telia of having physically and verbally abused their driver and of driving a car without drivers license.
