TBILISI, DFWatch–Fines issued by the police for administrative violations have increased by 70 percent in the first six months of 2013 compared to last year.

According to the Institute for Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), which obtained official data from the Interior Ministry, in the first six months of 2011, the income from fines for administrative violations was 21 134 952 lari (USD 12 700 000).

In the same period in 2012, this figure was 18 276 641 lari (USD 10 900 000), while in 2013 it was 31 106 828 lari (USD 18 700 000).
