TBILISI, DFWatch–A woman suspected of murdering her husband and son denies committing the crime, claiming that she doesn’t know what happened but was trying to save her husband when she found him.
The woman was questioned about the case and the court will likely make a decision about pre-trial detention on Tuesday. She is charged with premeditated murder.
Her lawyer Khatuna Chkhaidze told journalists on Monday that her client is unaware of what happened. She said that her husband and son left home and were late. She called the man, but his phone was switched off so she decided to go out to look for them, and found them at the entrance to the building.
“She says that she only touched her husband trying to save him and help him,” lawyer added.
The five-year-old son was discovered dead in the car and the lawyer explained that the mother says she wanted to save her son and was trying to take him to the hospital.
According to lawyer, the man had financial issues, likely related to debt.
Monday, the woman was questioned as a witness.
During the investigation, police seized a hammer, which was allegedly used to murder the man. The lawyer says her client has confirmed that they recently purchased the hammer, but the purpose was to fix the roof of a storeroom.
