TBILISI, DFWatch–A forensic examination has concluded that a video clip of a police operation in 2004 which ended the life of Buta Robakidze has been edited.

The Prosecutor’s Office on Friday published the results of an examination of the video, which was released a few weeks ago by Irakli Pirtskhalava, one of the policemen involved in the incident. It shows scenes from the night of November 23, 2004, when Robakidze and four others were stopped by the police.

Robakidze was shot and died as a result. The other four were charged with illegally carrying and keeping a weapon. All of them claim that the police placed the weapon there.

The examination found that the video has been edited and it is not possible to determine whether it is an original recording or a copy.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, sections of the video from the start until the part when a pistol is first seen and then a weapon under one of the seats in the car, has been edited.

The report form the examination is 80 pages long, but only the conclusion is public.

“The investigation will additionally publish the conclusions of the US FBI and Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany when Georgia receives them,” the Prosecutor’s Office statement reads.
