TBILISI, DFWatch–A 19-year-old boy who has been missing for six month has been found dead in South Ossetia.

Davit Basharuli was declared missed last summer. On Monday, locals discovered his body hanging from a tree between Akhalgori and the village Ikoti, in an area that was under Georgian control until the war in 2008, but now is in the breakaway region.

Villagers think the boy was killed long ago and his body brought to the place on Sunday. They say they would have noticed body if it had been hanging there for so long time, according to the head of the exile authorities of Akhalgori who is based further south in Tserovani.

Relatives recall that on June 4, 2014, Basharuli was taken to the police and allegedly beaten. Since then, his family has been searching for him. Relatives also remember that six months ago, an apartment was robbed in the neighborhood and the police brought him in for questioning in relation with the crime.

Basharuli worked at the communal service in Akhalgori. His body has been taken to Tskhinvali for autopsy.
