TBILISI, DFWatch–United National Movement (UNM) chair Tina Bokuchava is one of the speakers at the German Marshall Fund’s annual Brussels Forum, a high-level transatlantic gathering of policymakers, diplomats, business leaders and experts.
Bokuchava, who recently revealed that her husband had been abducted and forced into making an apology video, spoke about political prisoners and appealed to forum participants to support for democratic reforms in Georgia.
Bokuchava added that she had held talks with the EU’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
The UNM chair was flanked by other Georgian opposition figures, including European Georgia leader Gigi Tsereteli.
The opposition delegation presented a policy paper calling for “new, free, parliamentary elections” and the immediate release of all political prisoners as the only path forward for Georgia.
Bokuchava undelined the importance of the opposition having a unified message to Western allies.
Also present at the Brussels Forum were Keith Kellogg, President Trump’s Special Envoy for Russia and Ukraine, and Carl Bildt, Co-Chair of European Council on Foreign Relations.
