TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia’s former president, who now serves as Odessa regional governor in Ukraine, commented over recently published two audios containing his conversation with his Georgian allies where he mentions possibility of a new Rose Revolution in the country.
“We must not allow in Georgia Putin’s scenario to suppress free speech,” writes Mikheil Saakashvili in his Facebook post published Thursday late evening.
He draws parallels with Ukraine’s Maidan, writing that Bidzina Ivanishvili acts like ousted president Viktor Yanukovich, and stresses that people of Ukraine had to resort to the force to get rid of him.
“This provincial dictator (Ivanishvili) won’t hesitate to shoot at his own people, but if we are determined to defend our dignity and not to give up our freedom, he will share Yanukovych’s fate.
“We shouldn’t break into anywhere, we shouldn’t overthrow anyone, but if it necessary to defend from the oppressive government, we should be ready for it,” Saakashvili wrote.
“If it is necessary to physically defend freedom, we need to be ready for it as well,” Saakashvili states. “When democracy is being killed, it needs physical protection, so teaches the history of the European democracy.”
