TBILISI, DFWatch — The delayed visit by NATO’s Military Committee will take place in the first half of 2013.
“The parties have decided that high military officials of the Alliance will visit Georgia in the first half of 2013,” the defense ministry informs, explaining that the process of planning the visit already started.
Defense Minister Irakli Alasania, met with the committee’s chairperson, Danish General Knud Bartels in Brussels, who confirmed that the visit will go ahead.
The trip should have been held in November, but was postponed because Georgia’s new government November 7 detained Giorgi Kalandadze, the Head of the General Headquarters for abuse of powers.
The delay caused concern among former government officials and the new government’s opponents, who said that this kind of visit has never been delayed before.
