TBILISI, DFWatch–A Georgian father and son who were detained by Russian soldiers close to the so-called administrative border with South Ossetia a few days ago were were released on Monday.

According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, Avtandil and Kakhi Khaduri, who happen to be relatives of Finance Minister Nodar Khaduri, were released after negotiations, which involved the regional police of the Shida Kartil region and representatives of the EU’s Monitoring Mission to Georgia (EUMM).

The two were detained May 27, accused of illegally crossing the border between Georgian- and Russian controlled territory as it was delineated after the 2008 war. They themselves say they were just out working in the garden.
