TBILISI, DFWatch–A time schedule for implementing the action plan for visa liberalization between Georgia and the EU has been confirmed.

Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Alexi Petriashvili explained Thursday that the new agreement sets detailed goals for different state bodies in Georgia in order to implement the first phase of the action plan.

The first phase includes harmonizing legislation in order to get it closer to EU standards.

Cecilia Malmström, EU’s Commissioner for Home Affairs, February 22 brought the action plan to Georgia during her visit to Tbilisi.

The second phase of the action plan is to implement steps aimed at getting Georgia technically ready to start negotiations with the EU on visa free travel.
