TBILISI, DFWatch–Three prisoners are on a hunger strike at Ksani prison.

The Prison Ministry said Monday that August 1 one of its prisoners, a man called Kakha, had sewed his eyelids shut as a sign of protest, as he perceives himself as innocent and demands to be released. His health is reportedly not in danger at this stage.

It has been several days since another prisoner called Malkhaz went on hunger strike. He wants his case to be reviewed again and to discuss the issue of early dismissal.

A third prisoner, called Zurab, who is also on hunger strike, wants a fair review of his case by the court.

The statement of the ministry reads that it is not within the competency of the ministry to satisfy the demands of prisoners.

The prisoners warn that if their demands are not met they will refuse any kind of medical assistance.
