TBILISI, DFWatch–Several pupils fell ill at a Tbilisi schools Wednesday and had to be taken to the hospital. Their health condition is currently satisfactory, but it is still unknown what caused their illness.

The incident happened at Public School No 139, where ten fifth grade pupils seems to have suffered some kind of poisoning during music class, nine of whom were boys. The teacher also felt unwell.

Six of the pupils were taken to Iashvili Children’s Hospital, the rest were examined by emergency doctors.

Spokesperson for Iashvili Hospital claims that the children were not poisoned.

One of the children fainted. He was suffering from low blood sugar level. The other five complained about stomach ache but didn’t show any signs of intoxication.

Otar Rusadze, Head of the Toxicology Department, told journalists that he rules out intoxication by an irritant or gas poisoning.

“The number of poisoned would have been much higher, and would also have affected teachers. I think this happened because of lack of air and then moments of hysteria.”

Classes were suspended at the school.
