TBILISI, DFWatch–The de facto government of Georgia’s breakaway region South Ossetia has released six Georgians who were detained for ‘illegally crossing the border.’ Two of them have been detained since September 19, 2012.

Malkhaz Titvelashvili and Givi Iluridze September 19 were detained by Russian soldiers, the Interior Ministry informed on Friday. March 9 Vakhtang Baliashvili and Davit Vatiashvili from Maksisubani, a settlement close to the de facto border, were also detained and taken to a jail in Tskhinvali, the largest town in South Ossetia.

Ramaz Bakhturidze and his wife Maya Bakhturidze from the village Orghuli were on their way to their own garden in the village Tbeti to do some spring work. March 30 they were detained.

The six of them were released after negotiations, which involved representatives of the de facto Tskhinvali government and the Analytic Department of the Interior Ministry, as well as the regional police department in the Shida Kartli region.

In the end of March, five more Georgians were released from detention in Tskhinvali.
