TBILISI, DFWatch – Friday evening, Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili’s Facebook page suffered a similar attack as his Russian counterpart Dimitry Medvedev.

Tens of comments per minute were submitted in Russian, until the administrator intervened and blocked comments from the campaigners.

It seems to have been retribution for an organized attack by Georgian users against Medvedev’s Facebook page on Thursday. That led to hundreds of comments against Russian policies until the administrator blocked the campaigners.

Saakashvili’s Facebook page contained the sentence: “Mikheil Saakashvili is ethnically Armenian; his wife is cooperating with U.S. special services, the Georgian people are very good and deserve better president.”

The first time Georgia experienced a cyber attack was in 2008 before the Russia-Georgia war.
