TBILISI, DFWatch — President Mikheil Saakashvili Tuesday presented Bidzina Ivanishvili, Georgian Dream coalition leader, as a candidate for Prime Minister.

Manana Manjgaladze, spokesperson for the president, said at today’s briefing that in accordance with the Georgian constitution, the leader of the election winner was selected as candidate for prime minister.

She says Bidzina Ivanishivli now has ten days to present his government list to the new parliament when it convenes.

The first parliament session is scheduled for 13:00, Sunday October 21. It will be held in the new parliament building in Kutaisi.

Local journalists report that the building is barely finished and is not ready to host parliament members, as when it rains, water drips down from the ceiling into the halls.

Meno International, the company which is responsible for the construction work, a few days ago released a statement saying that the major phase of construction work will be finished by October 20 to be ready for the first session, but that construction will not be completed until the end of the year.
