TBILISI, DFWatch–Snow has made Georgian authorities enforce restrictions on several roads in mountainous regions in the west and north.

On the road between Kutaisi and Ambrolauri, via Tkibuli, traffic is restricted on the 36km to 72km section. No trailers, semi-trailers or vehicles with more than 30 seats are allowed through due to bad weather.

Other vehicles are allowed as long as they are equipped with snow chains. The rest of the road is open for all kinds of vehicles.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has deployed machinery to clear the road.

According to the Roads Department, there is no longer avalanche danger on the Gudauri-Jobi road and it is open to traffic. There are tunnels protecting against avalanche.

For trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30 seats, traffic is only allowed in one direction.

Vehicles are allowed on the Gudauri-Kobi section only if they are equipped with snow chains.

In Dariali Valley, along the 134km-135km section, vehicles are not allowed to stop. Police are checking the movement of vehicles in the valley.

The Roads Department posts web updates (only Georgian) and runs a hotline for inquiries: (+955) (0) 32 2313076.
