TBILISI, DFWatch–Remittances to Georgia fell by 35.1 percent in August 2015, compared to the same period last year, according to new figures published Tuesday by Georgia’s National Bank.

The new monthly report shows that the total amount of remittances was USD 84.4 million.

89.4 percent of the money sent home by emigrants originate in 12 countries.

Russia tops the list with USD 37.6 million sent home, Italy is second with USD 8.9 million, US third, USD 8.6 million, Turkey USD 6.0 million and Israel USD 2.8 million.

When it comes to money transfers out of Georgia, USD 12.5 million was sent in August. Last year USD 14.6 million was sent abroad.
