TBILISI, DFWatch – A group of internal refugees in Georgia today sat down in front of parliament and began a hunger strike.

Their protest is being organized by the opposition party Future for Georgia and their demand is to have their living quarters legalized.

The IDPs come from Abkhazia and South Ossetia and demand a stop to the evictions.

At a protest action June 19 outside the refugee ministry, the IDPs were promised by a ministry representative that their problems would be solved step by step.

Future for Georgia leader Giorgi Laghidze said, after that meeting, nobody met or talked with him about the problem, so the IDPs decided to go on hunger strike until the government reacts.
