TBILISI, DFWatch–Police detained Omar, 71, on suspicion of being behind a false bomb threat at the parliament building in Kutaisi.

Thursday parliament building was evacuated to allow law enforcers to conduct a bomb search. It later turned out that the report was false. According to the interior ministry, the suspect is a man born in 1942 in Kutaisi.

The suspect called the emergency service at 15:00 on July 26 and said that parliament building would explode. After his call, the building was evacuated and closed off with a ribbon.

After about one hour, law enforcers determined that there was no bomb or any other explosive device in the building.

An investigation is launched under a section of the law about false report of terrorism.
