TBILISI, DFWatch–New figures published by the Georgian Interior Ministry show that 390,685 people visited the country in April. This is 7.4 percent more than in the same period last year.

In the first four months of the current year, 1,396,952 people visited the country, also a 7.4 percent increase from last year.

In the ministry’s monthly reports, visitors are grouped into four categories.

In the first four months of 2014, the number of tourists was 519,482. This is 12.1 percent more than last year. The number of people transiting through Georgia was 267,684, which is 28 percent higher than in 2013. The number of visitors with other purposes was 609,786 – three percent less than last year.

The largest number of visitors came from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Ukraine.
