TBILISI, DFWatch — EU-Georgia today opened the fourth round of negotiations of the proposed Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) in Brussels.

In parallel, the twelfth session of negotiations of Georgia’s Association Agreement with the EU was also held Tuesday.

Davit Zalkaliani, First Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, chairs Georgia’s delegation. This is the first time the new government represents Georgia in such talks.

The talks will last until November 29. DCFTA negotiations started February 28, 2012.

Regarding the association agreement, today was the twelfth plenary session to agree on the text of that agreement. Davit Zalkaliani also leads the Georgian delegation in those talks.

The parties agreed on preamble, political reform and dialogue, cooperation on common foreign and security policy, justice, freedom and security, as well as general conclusions.

The Association Agreement will replace the current agreement on partnership and cooperation between EU and Georgia. It will deepen relations between them, giving opportunity for political association and economic integration in the future.
