TBILISI, DFWatch – The U.S. National Democratic Institute will observe Georgia’s parliamentary election on October 1.

According to NDI’s Georgia office, the observer mission contains seven persons, out of which are current and former members of the US Congress, former diplomats and members of parliament, representatives of non-governmental organizations and regional experts.

The delegation wants to demonstrate the international community’s support for the democratic process in Georgia, NDI’s statement says.

The organization considers it an important election and the country’s first genuinely competitive election.

The delegation members will hold meetings with candidates, government and election administration officials, also political parties, civil society, media and representatives of the international community.
