TBILISI, DFWatch – James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, will arrive in Georgia on June 11.

NATO’s information center in Tbilisi told DF Watch on Tuesday that Appathurai is coming to Georgia to plan for a “NATO week” here 11-16 of June.

“NATO week” will open at Courtyard Marriott Hotel with an international conference, at which Apparthurai will be one of the main speaker. He will also hold a meeting at the Free University.

Bilateral meetings are also planned, but there is not information about the schedule of his visit yet.

This is the fifth time the annual “NATO week” is held in Georgia. Usually, NATO days are in autumn, but due to the fact that there are planned parliamentary elections in October, “NATO week” is scheduled earlier this year, in order to avoid politicizing it.
