TBILISI, DFWatch–A correspondent for Interpressnews in the Black Sea port reports that 350 drivers have been on strike from Tuesday morning, demanding an increase in their salary.

Drivers say their hourly pay is USD 2.20 and want to increase it to USD 2.50, otherwise they will continue the strike.

“They have lied to us many times. We had to go to this extreme measure now, and we will not stop the rallies until our demands are met,” said Emzar Gogitidze, one of the drivers.

A week-long strike among minibus drivers in Tbilisi ended February 2, after the company Tbilisi Minibus threatened to fire the drivers and hire new ones. Their demand to lower ticket prices in order to draw more customers was not met.
