TBILISI, DFWatch – A TV journalist in Georgia was shot at while driving in her car last night.

Ia Tinikashvili, reporter for Maestro TV and Interpressnews in the Shida Kartli region, was returning to Gori after finishing a report in the village Akhrisi, fifteen kilometers kilometers away and near the breakaway region South Ossetia.

Two friends were in the car with her. No-one was injured in the sudden shooting, but the back window of the car broke.

Tinikashvili was preparing a report about the history of Akhrisi. She says she didn’t notice anyone on the road before the shot.

The day before, the journalist posted a statement on her Facebook page about policeman Zaza Darakhvelidze, who according to her, is trading in second hand cars, in confict with his official position. She says other police employees are also involved.

Her statement says that Zaza Darakhvelidze tries to hide that he is the car trade business in parallel with his official activity and now he tries to terrorize journalists.

Interpressnews reports that Tinikashvili has some suspicions about who did the shooting and that she will name them soon.
