TBILISI, DFWatch – Iran is suspending the agreement with Georgia about visa free travel in connection with a conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Georgian citizens who wish to travel to Iran from August 5 to September 1 will need a visa.

Georgia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry says the reason is stricter security measures in connection with the 16th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Iran. The agreement about visa free travel will be suspended for 24 days.

Georgians planning a trip to Iran in that period should apply to Iran’s embassy in Tbilisi. from September 1, the agreement about visa free travel will be in force again.

Georgia and Iran signed an agreement about visa free travel which came into force on January 26, 2011.
