TBILISI, DFWatch–Police in Georgia on Sunday arrested the husband of a well-known singer at Tbilisi airport after he was found carrying drugs.

Kakha Mamulashvili is a producer, but better known as the husband of the Georgian singer Lela Tsurtsumia.

The Interior Ministry first reported “Mamulicha’s” arrest without naming the suspect, but people recognized him a video that shows the moment when he was detained.

In a statement, the Interior Ministry writes that during a police search, 5.591 grams of cocaine, 1.15 grams of cannabis and 0.2048 grams of ecstasy were seized.

Mamulashvili also underwent a drug test which confirmed he had used cocaine.

The investigation is based on suspicion of illegal purchase, possession, and bringing drugs into Georgia.

If convicted, he may be jailed for up to 11 years.

The Prosecutor General’s Office will ask Tbilisi City Court for pretrial detention at a hearing which starts Monday at 13:00.
