TBILISI, DFWatch–Heavy rain damaged roads and flooded streets in several villages in Georgia. The capital Tbilisi was also affected.

Clean-up work is being conducted in the village Ereda, in the Akhalgori region, where the roads were damaged. Rain killed livestock, and according to locals, several houses were also damaged.

The main road which leads to this village is highly flooded. Local government promised to set up a commission to calculate the losses and compensate the damage.

“The clean-up work may take the whole day,” Interpressnews quotes the deputy governor of the region saying. “According to preliminary information, the losses are pretty large.”

There was a hailstorm in about ten villages close to Tsalka, which damaged the roofs of houses and agriculture lands with potatoes and grains. A commission has been created to study the losses in those villages.

Yards and basements were flooded in Tbilisi, but with no serious damage, according to Tbilisi City Hall. Emergency service employees are working to help remove water from places that are flooded.
