TBILISI, DFWatch – Germany’s Minister of State under Foreign Minister Cornelia Pieper visits Georgia.

Announcing the visit Tuesday, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said that Pieper will arrive today on April 17 and have meetings here April 18 and 19.

Kalandadze says that on request of Germany, meetings are planned at the education ministry and foreign ministry.

Current issues within the bilateral and multilateral cooperation will be discussed at the meetings; also events planned to deepen relations within education and culture, programs in the field of international development and other important issues.

In addition, the deputy foreign minister says Georgia will inform Cornelia Pieper about current events in the country, about the situation in the occupied territories and about the reforms in Georgia.

Meetings are planned at German cultural institutions and political funds in Tbilisi. Pieper will also visit the German International School and the National Museum.

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle visited Georgia one month ago.
