TBILISI, DFWatch–45 DVDs and two hard drives were destroyed at the Interior Ministry on Friday, which included footage obtained through illegal surveillance.

Alexandre Chikaidze, Minister of Internal Affairs, said that the commission tasked with studying the illegally obtained footage held its last session on Friday.

As reported earlier by DF Watch, the commission decided that the larger part of the footage should be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for investigation. The rest of the material, which contains material of an intimate nature, mostly sexual scenes and unidentified people, was destroyed on Friday.

45 DVDs and two hard drives were destroyed, while 590 DVDs were sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Irakli Shotadze, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, said the interior minister personally gave him these DVDs and the office will immediately start investigating.

This is the second time the Interior Ministry destroys computer disks from the so-called dirty archive.
