TBILISI, DFWatch–A Georgian murder suspect who was wanted by Interpol was Monday detained in Bulgaria.

According to Georgia’s Interior Ministry, the 43 year old was detained in Silistra. He has been wanted by Georgian law enforcement since 2009 for attempted murder.

According to investigators, he injured a person with a cold weapon on September 27, 2009, causing serious injuries. The motive is believed to have been jealousy. After the incident, he went into hiding.

After Interpol’s Tbilisi bureau notified the Justice Ministry and the Prosecutor General’s Office about the detention in Bulgaria, extradition procedures were initiated.
