TBILISI, DFWatch–A new poll shows that the top people in the Georgian Dream coalition are the most trusted public figures in Georgia, after the patriarch.

The results are part of a wider survey of public attitudes organized by a US agency that builds democracy in foreign countries, the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and follow earlier results published on Friday.

94 percent of those questioned like the patriarch, 74 percent like the ex-prime minister Bidzina Ivanishvili, 72 percent like Defense Minister Irakli Alasania, 72 percent say they like President Giorgi Margvelashvili and 71 percent like Irakli Gharibashvili.

Speaker of Parliament Davit Usupashvili is next on the list with 65 percent, Energy Minister Kaladze with 60 percent, and chair of the parliamentary committee on human rights Eka Beselia gets 53 percent.

Further down, 48 percent say they like Davit Bakradze, parliamentary leader of the opposition. 26 percent like Gigi Ugulava, who was recently removed from office as Tbilisi mayor; 26 percent like Ombudsman Ucha Nanuashvili; 24 percent like ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili; 19 percent like the former interior minister Vano Merabishvili, who is now in detention, and only five percent like Bacho Akhalaia, the former defense minister who is also in detention.

The survey shows that 61 percent of the questioned said that the Georgian Dream coalition is closest to their political views. In the previous survey done in September of 2013, 50 percent said the same.

14 percent said no party is closest to them, while nine percent said the National Movement party is closest to them. 12 percent said so in September.

The survey was conducted in November and included the answers of 3 915 people. It was carried out by CRRC and funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
