TBILISI, DFWatch–Georgia is to join an international humanitarian effort in Luhansk, Ukraine.

This became known on Tuesday.

Last week, Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze said Georgia is not planning to join the international sanctions EU and the United States have imposed on Russia in connection with the war in Ukraine.

Panjikidze said she thinks sanctions aren’t productive, and it is better to sit down and negotiate to solve the crisis.

The National Movement criticized her for the statement, but Panjikidze said she was misinterpreted.
