Georgia loses 17th soldier in Afghanistan

TBILISI, DFWatch –Georgia has lost its 17th soldier in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

The Georgian Defense Ministry informs that Givi Pantsulaia, born in 1984, died Saturday at Gori Military Hospital.

“Corporal Givi Pantsuala received injuries as a result of mortar shell explosion in Afghanistan, in January 2012. The US side immediately rendered medical assistance to Corporal Pantsulaia,” the ministry writes, adding that after the incident he was transferred to a US military hospital in Germany.

The serviceman had been in a coma due to a neurological problem. Since March 3, the corporal was transferred to Gori Military Hospital. He spent last months at this hospital.

Pantsulaia died July 27. He served in third Infantry Brigade’s 31th Battalion in Helmand Province. http://dfwatch.net/sixteenth-georgian-soldier-dies-in-afghanistan-82969
