TBILISI, DFWatch – Georgia is giving the highest priority to investigating Monday’s foiled bombing attempt against the car of an employee at the Israeli embassy.

President Mikheil Saakashvili’s press spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze said this today at a regular briefing.

She said the investigation is in progress but for the time being, the president’s administration cannot make any other comment.

An explosive device was found on February 13 in the personal car of Roman Khachaturiani, who works as a driver for Israel’s ambassador to Georgia, Itzhak Gerberg.

In New Dehli yesterday, a magnetic bomb was attached to a car and when it went off, injured the driver and a diplomat’s wife connected to the Israeli embassy, as well as two other people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Hizbollah and Iran for the Tbilisi and New Delhi attacks.

Iran denied responsibility and instead accused Israeli of having carried out the attacks as a way of undermining Iran’s good relations with India and Georgia.
